£10 Challenge...

Well guys...
As part of my uni course at the moment...
We were asked to do a £10 challenge.
The challenge was to spend £10 a day for 3 days and go at least 20 miles away from home.
"How far can you get on £10 a day"
The first thing we thought of was to go somewhere to do with fashion, Milan, Paris, London??
Cheep flights would do it we thought... so we chose Milan! How Good would that be!!
Yes it would have been! We found some flights for £6!! only £6!!!
But well... by the time we had checked that that was ok with everyone, the price went up to £90.
Me an the girls chose to go to London as we wanted to go to Graduate Fashion Week anyway..
How could we get there? Train, coach, car?
We thought that if we drove, 5 of us could fit in the car, and the petrol money would get split between us. We also thought that a road trip would be more fun then sitting on a train and stopping at every station.
So we had a plan. London it was. Graduate fashion week and £10 challenge mixed in one.
Vanessa, one of the girls offerd to drive, she also had the biggest car. so then me and 3 others could also fit in, aswel as all of the bags. And munchys!!
As the challenge was only to get somewhere it didnt matter how much we spent when we got there. The idea of the trip was also to do something to do with our projects, so the fashion show also fitted into this.
I booked tickets for the show, found a hotel, booked car parking, we were all set.
The day came so out came the sat nav and off we all went to London!!
The petrol there cost us £10 each. And we only used half of the tank. So we were well in budget... so we splashed out on going on the toll road! another £4.70, split between 5 of us that was nothing...
When we got there the traffic in London was mad! The roads are so different then at home. But we managed thanks to the sat nav. We parked up and got a taxi to the hotel.
Because we needed to go London on the day of the Education day of the Graduate fashion week we didnt have much of a choice on dates, and due to people having to work, we could only go for two days insted of three. I no the challenge was for three days, but I think seen as we spent less money getting somewhere, and because we went thurther then 20 miles, we can be let off!!
The hotel was great, it coast each of us just over £20 which is really good for London. That first night we booked a meal online to go to Gordon Ramseys Pub called The Warrington. £22.50 for a three course meal. It was lovely and a real treat.
Next day it was time to go to Fashion Week!!!!
So excited!!
The day was brilliant, it was really helpful and useful to me looking into universities what I could go to next year. It makes it alot easier to see which courses are the best as the work is all in one place to see.
The fashion show at the end of the day was also really good (as I have rote about in the blog before) I think that London was deffinatly a good place for us all to go. We had a fun road trip and got to go somewhere we cant usualy get to go.

Graduate Fashion Week...

I went to Graduate Fashion Week with the girls in my class at uni..
Loved Loved Loved it
The work on show was amazing
We went on the Education Day so that we could see a show with a bit of everything in as we couldn't choose one uni over another to go and watch on the other days.
It was great to look around the stands at the exhibition to see examples of this years graduates work, there was portfolios on show, sketchbooks, photography, and samples of garments.
There were plenty of books and magazines available to take away with you full of information on each university. Some of these are brilliant such as Segue which is a magazine made by the graduates of Epsom universities Fashion Journalism course.
The fashion show at the end of the day was really good to see some of the best garments from each university. As it was the education day and the final show of the year, the models started to dance around and have some fun. It was a laugh to see, but I think that if you want to go and see a professional serious show it would be good to go the day before which is the Gala shows. This is when the press are there and there are awards for the best designs of the year.
Some of my favorite universities from the exhibition and fashion show were, De Montfort, Nottingham Trent, Salford and Epsom.

These are some photographs from some stands at the exhibiton, I only took photographs of the garments which have something similar to my project at the moment. I am working on fashion and architecture so I am looking at structure and form.

Salford Fashion Show...

A couple of weeks ago now me and my friends went Manchester to see Salford University's graduate fashion show at the town hall.
It was amazing.
I was really impressed.. and wasn't let down.
When I was looking at fashion courses last year Salford was top of my list... and so far, still is.
These are some of my favorite images from the fashion show...
I am quite proud of my photography!!
There were some amazing designs including some men's wear which usually doesn't grab me... There were some where the models were covered from head to toe in printed fabric which were from a collection called Still Life.. they were my favorites from the show as they were really unusual and different.

I am going London tomorrow to go Graduate Fashion Week...
I am SoOooOoOoo Excited!
I cant wait to see which designs were chosen from Salford to be shown there...
The work was at a really high standard and The designers should be really pleased.
Last week I went to see Derby University's fashion show. Theres was really good too, but they didnt give me the same excited feel that Salfords did... I think maybe its because Salford is the university I would like to go to next year.

First Blog...

Well this is my first blog...
I am going to use it for my project at uni, kind of a research journal.
I am currently studying on a fashion degree course and am hopeing to do a top up course somewhere next year.
So lately I am looking around the country trying to find somewhere to go!
I love everything about fashion, and I know this is what I want to do.
My project at the moment is based on fashion and architecture... I love it! It is my favorite project I have done so far....
